2nd Annual Skyler Montgomery Youth Trout Day
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, the PA Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) holds its annual Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day Statewide. To encourage local youth to get outside, enjoy fishing, or learn how to fish, The New Cumberland Olde Towne Association along with Nicks 114 and Dead Lightning Distillery will be hosting a special event at Borough Park along the Yellow Breeches Creek (meet at the large pavilion). This free event from 8 a.m. to Noon will include fishing tackle giveaways, light refreshments, and fishing assistance from seasoned anglers.
- Free Fishing Rods, Tackle and Bait for the first 100 youth registered.
This is a FREE event, but pre-registration in advance is required at ncyouthfishing.com.
IMPORTANT: To participate in the PFBC’s Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day, anglers under age 16 must obtain a free Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Permit or purchase a 2024 Voluntary Youth Fishing License ($2.97) and be accompanied by a licensed adult. Adult mentors accompanying youth anglers must have a valid fishing license ($27.97) and trout permit ($14.97). Youth anglers may keep up to two trout, while adult mentors must practice catch-and-release fishing. Adults are not permitted to fish unless accompanying a child who is fishing. Fishing licenses, permits, and more information are available at fishandboat.com.
Organized and sponsored by: New Cumberland Olde Towne Association, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Dead Lightning Distillery and Nicks 114 Cafe.
Dead Lightning Distillery was started to preserve the memory of Skyler Montgomery. He started skiing at the age of 2, was an excellent fisherman at 8, a welder at 12 and a moonshiner at the age of 18. He passed away a few months after his 21st birthday. Skyler was a gentle giant at 6′ 7″ tall. He was a best friend to many, a great big brother and an overly generous, good-hearted person. His passing was a tragic loss for those that knew him. May his spirit live forever.
