Speed Limit

THE SPEED LIMIT IS 25 mph ON ALL BOROUGH STREETS AND ALLEYS

A growing concern for pedestrian and motorist safety prompted the New Cumberland Borough Council to request a uniform speed limit of 25 mph on all streets and alleys within the Borough Limits.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) conducted engineering and traffic studies in accordance with 67 Pa. Code 212.108, (Speed Limits). Analysis of roadway geometry, crash data, sight distance, roadside development, speed data and traffic volume were elements considered in the studies. The results of this recent speed study confirm a change from 35 mph to 25 mph where 35 mph currently exists is justified.

All speed limit signs have been changed to reflect the transition to 25 mph throughout the Borough and will be enforced effective immediately.
