Recreation Board Volunteers Needed
New Cumberland Borough is excited to announce that we will be looking for dedicated volunteers to serve on the newly established Recreation Board. If you are passionate about shaping the future of our community and have an interest in parks and recreation, we encourage you to submit a letter of interest and resume to the Borough Manager before September 30, 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact and be involved in the community.
The Recreation Board will consist of 7 members appointed by Borough Council. All members of the Board shall be borough residents.
At the discretion of Borough Council duties of the Recreation Board include:
- The Recreation Board shall serve as an advisory body to the Borough Manager and Borough Council.
- The Recreation Board shall perform such studies or activities as may be requested by Borough Council and may provide recommendations upon its own motion relating to issues concerning the provision of park and recreation services within the Borough.
- The Recreation Board may advise the Borough on capital improvements for park and recreation purposes, and for funding for such improvements, specifically related to adopted recreation plans.
- The Recreation Board shall maintain a relationship with the West Shore Recreation Commission, work with the Commission to expand recreation opportunities in the Borough, and ensure Borough residents are knowledgeable about the Commission.
- Review and advise the Borough Manager and Borough Council of proposed recreation plans and facilities in connection with land development activities and plans.
