Penn Waste Rate Increase

Borough staff advertised a bid for New Cumberland Borough’s 2023-2025 Solid Waste and Recycling contract in October 2022. Only our current provider, Penn Waste, opted to bid on the contract. Like many other nearby municipalities our rates for collection costs are increasing. The new contract pricing is comparable to other municipalities who are renewing trash and recycling contracts. Penn Waste noted the primary reasons for the rate increases are increased fuel and labor costs. 

Trash and recycling services will remain the same, but the cost will be increasing from $50/quarter to $90/quarter per dwelling unit starting with the 2023 2^nd quarter bill. The 2023 1^st quarter bill, which is mailed February 1, 2023, will be $63.
