Meet Richard Wiley: Your New Chief of Police

Chief Wiley brings a wealth of law enforcement experience to our community, with a background that spans from serving as the Chief of Police for Lower Swatara Township to his extensive tenure at the Philadelphia Police Department.

With a career that boasts leadership roles in diverse and challenging environments, Chief Wiley is no stranger to implementing crucial changes and fostering a strong sense of community involvement. During his time as the Chief of Police in West Melbourne, Florida, he led an impactful transformation, focusing on crime management, proper supervision, and community policing. His dedication to these principles led to accreditation for the West Melbourne Police Department, a testament to his commitment to excellence.

Returning to Pennsylvania with a rich history of achievements, Chief Wiley’s vision for our department is centered on fairness, training, recognition, and working conditions. His past successes in restructuring agencies, implementing new training programs, and achieving accreditation at the state level demonstrate his relentless pursuit of excellence and accountability.

Chief Wiley’s tenure at the Philadelphia Police Department is marked by his progression through various ranks, from Patrol to Staff Inspector. His experience in diverse roles, such as managing a patrol district and serving on the Law Enforcement Advisory Council for the University of Pennsylvania, showcases his comprehensive expertise in law enforcement operations and community engagement.
