Parks and Recreation

New Cumberland Borough has several parks, playgrounds, open spaces and water trails for residents and visitors to get outside and explore. Whether you want a quiet space for a family picnic, a field to play catch, water to go fishing or boating, you’ll find something for you throughout our facilities. Park Rules and Regulations
We want the community to enjoy and feel safe at our parks. Please review our park ordinance here  for rules and regulations. Please note, per Ordinance 535: Pavilions and other facilities in New Cumberland Borough Park shall be available for private use only by residents of the Borough of New Cumberland.

New Cumberland Borough Park supplemented by adjacent PPL field

Location: 500 Front St

Uses: This 38-acre community park has five baseball fields; a one-mile marked fitness walk; playground equipment; horseshoe pits; four pavilions with picnic tables available for rent; one gazebo available for rent; fishing and boating at the boat ramp takeout on Yellow Breeches Creek Water Trail; benches; restrooms open seasonally; drinking fountain; and parking.
New Cumberland Apple Festival and the Iron Bridge Music Festival are held here.

Anna & Bailey Streets Garden Plots

Location: Anna St runs along two longest sides and Bailey St is on the bottom of the triangle.

Uses: One-acre, triangular-shaped neighborhood open space. 

Anna Street Lot

Location: Bordered by Anna St 16th St, Bailey St and Bridge St. Accessed via an unmarked alley from Anna or Bridge St.

Uses: Small neighborhood open space bordered by backyards.

Benjamin Property

Location: 1 Benjamin Plaza

Uses: The New Cumberland Public Library, partially located in an historic home, is located on the Benjamin Property. There are over two acres of civic green with a short walking path, benches and open space. 

Community Garden

Location: 12th & Market St.

Uses: 26 garden plots open to residents on first come, first serve basis. Reserve your garden plot  today.

Drexel Hills Park

Location: 600 Brookhaven Rd

Uses: Neighborhood Park: play field, playground equipment/tot lot, picnic tables/pavilion and benches.

Elkwood Park

Location: 7th St & Bridge St

Uses: Civic Green: Location of community Christmas tree and lighting ceremony.

Haldeman Bowl

Location: Haldeman Blvd between Bridge and Warren Streets

Uses: Neighborhood open space

Hillside Elementary School, owned by the West Shore School District

Location: 516 7th Street (Brandt Avenue)

Uses: School Sports Fields: 2 girl’s baseball fields with bleachers, tennis courts.
Planned Improvements:
• Convert 2 tennis courts into 2 basketball courts
• Rehabilitate 2 tennis courts and overlay pickleball court lines
• New backstop, 2 new dugouts, new snack bar/shed

Memorial Field

Location: 600 5th St/Beech Avenue/Eutaw Ave

Uses: School Sports Fields: youth football and baseball fields with bleachers, playground equipment/tot lot, picnic tables/pavilion and restrooms.

Riverfront Park and the Susquehanna River

Location: From Bridge Street headed South, turn left on 3rd Avenue.

Uses: Fish from the banks or launch your boat at the boat ramp. No jet skis. Be careful of river rocks that may cause damage to boats.

Sherwood Park

Location: 1726 Sherwood Rd

Uses: Neighborhood Park: playground equipment/tot lot, basketball court, picnic tables/pavilion.

Veteran’s Park w/Military Memorial

Location: Park Ave & Bridge St

Uses: Civic Green: Location of Veteran’s Memorial and starting point for Memorial Day Parade.

Westover Lot

Location: Westover Dr & Warren St

Uses: Small open space at entrance of neighborhood.

Will Cole Park aka 12th St Ballfields

Location: 219 12th St

Uses: Athletic Fields: 2 baseball fields, a concession stand and off-street parking.

Yellow Breeches Water Trail

Location: The take-out only access point is in Borough Park, located at the south (upstream) end of the park in advance of a hazardous dam located downstream across from the ballfields. There is one ADA parking space close to the boat ramp.
