Cultural Series at the Library

Camp Security: History and Archaeology of York County’s Revolutionary War Prison Encampment
Jonathan R. Stayer, Historical Researcher, Friends of Camp Security, will describe the establishment and operation of the Revolutionary War encampment in York County, PA that held British prisoners captured at the battles of Saratoga and Yorktown. Recent efforts to preserve the site, research its history, and explore it archaeologically will also be discussed. Camp Security remains the only undeveloped location of a Revolutionary War prison camp in the United States. This program is part of the Friends of New Cumberland Public Library Cultural Series.
