Dam Study Community Advisory Team
American Rivers is leading an effort to conduct a feasibility study evaluating the possible removal of the low head dam on the Yellow Breeches Creek at New Cumberland Borough Park. As part of this effort a Community Advisory Team (CAT) is being developed to act as a bridge between the Borough/American Rivers and the public, helping to identify community needs, assets, and concerns.
The Community Advisory Team (CAT) for the dam removal feasibility study brings together residents, local leaders, and stakeholders to guide the safe, ecological restoration of the creek. They facilitate transparent communication, address community concerns, provide input on design, and ensure the project maximizes benefits like improved fish habitat, safety, and recreational access. We are looking for 10 individuals from the Borough who would be interested in serving in this capacity during the feasibility study period likely lasting 18 months.
If you are interested in serving on the CAT or would like to learn more about the Community Advisory Team, please contact the borough office at 717-774-0404 or info@newcumberlandborough.com
